The village of Andriano (population: 1000) is located in the beautiful countryside between Bolzano and Merano, on the right bank of the River Etsch/Adige, at the foot of the mighty Gantkofels.
It is a popular holiday destination for those looking for those looking for peace and relaxation: The village lies in gentle hills, surrounded by orchards and vineyardsand conveys a sense of being perfectly at one with nature. The countryside is especially beautiful in the spring, when the orchards around the Rosengartenhof are transformed into a fragrant sea of flowers.
The region around Andrian (Andriano) is an ideal holiday destination throughout the year.
If you want to buy fresh bread rolls and other local South Tyrolean produce the grocer’s can be found in the village centre, just ten minutes’ walk away. It is open every day except Saturday afternoon and on Sundays and public holidays.
Just above the village you can see the little castle of Burg Wolfsturm, which was probably built by the lord of Andriano in the early thirteenth century. You can reach the castle on foot via a short forest path, but it is not possible to go inside.
Beautiful excursion destinations in the surrounding area include the Drei-Burgen Wanderung (Three Castle Hike), the ruins of Schloss Festenstein, Schloss Greifenstein (above Terlano) and Castle Neuhaus as well as Castle Hocheppan.
